The author, Jacinta (pronounced Jasinta) Elliott lives in the historic city of York, on a road that goes back to Roman times and close to where Vikings lived when York was the centre of their kingdom in England.
Although she has always made up stories for children, this is Jacinta’s first book. She is writing two more stories about Barbirolli and his friends, and thinking of another book of an entirely different kind, for older children. Jacinta attributes her love of theatre to her dad, who was a journalist and theatre critic in Dublin. Her love of animals (both domestic and wild) also goes back to her childhood.
Illustrator and graphic artist Susan Meaney lives in the west of Ireland, close to the Atlantic on one side and, on the other, the marvellous Burren area – inspiration for her Burren Flower Fairies designs.
Little Apple Press is an adventure started in 2013 by Jacinta Elliott and Reg Walker, her husband.
We are particularly grateful for the enthusiastic support of Ned Hoste of the Big Ideas Collective, who did much to get the book ready for print and to build our website.
